Tunku Putra-HELP International School
Strategically located in The NorthBank, Tabuan Jaya - the Tunku Putra-HELP International School is designed to accommodate up to 1,500 students.
The main design idea was to create 4 interlocking learning blocks organized around 2 multi-storey voids, embracing 2 courtyard greens - a Formal Courtyard and a Landscaped Playing Courtyard. Flanking the 2 multi-storey voids are the Classroom Cluster, the Big Learning Space Cluster (i.e. labs), the Administration Cluster (i.e. administration area, staff room and multi-purpose hall) and the Resource Cluster (i.e. canteen, library, dance and martial room and drama room).
The visual and physical connectivities to the natural environment are created to enhance the learning environment of students. On the ground level, the landscape flows continuously from outside into the interior; forming a bootstrap to tie the 4 learning blocks together. The intersection of circulation routes creates a steady stream of communication opportunities by teachers, students and staff.
The school building is subtly integrated into the landscape of the site, where all the learning blocks are orientated to maximise views of the riverfront, landscape and playing fields.
Tunku Putra-HELP International School encapsulates the philosophy that learning should be a wholesome and joyful experience, where students are encouraged to flourish and fulfil their potential in a safe and secure environment.
“Our desire was to create a contemporary and conducive learning environment that has a strong relationship to the surrounding landscape; the school will be an infill to the green features.”
