KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital (KPJ Kuching), the first hospital for KPJ Healthcare in Sarawak, is located in the township of Tabuan Laru and has been fully operational since 2004. Phase one of the new KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital (KPJ) at Jalan Stutong, BDC Stampin, was completed in 2018, marking a significant milestone in healthcare infrastructure for the region.
As part of this expansion, ensuring the highest standards of safety and protection was a top priority, especially in high-risk areas such as escape corridors, plant rooms, and AHU rooms. This is where Gyproc® FireLine® played a vital role. As the gypsum board product used in the Gyproc® FireWall® system, Gyproc FireLine® is specially formulated to provide fire resistance performance even at high temperatures, offering a fire rating of up to 2 hours. In the KPJ Kuching project, over 20,000 m² of 2-hour fire-rated wall systems were installed using Gyproc FireLine® within the Gyproc® FireWall® system, providing essential fire protection and peace of mind to patients, staff, and visitors. This combination of Gyproc FireLine® and Gyproc® FireWall® system ensures both the performance and safety required in critical healthcare environments.
Gyproc® FireLine® has also been used in other major projects like Miri Hospital, Sheraton Hotel Kuching, and Hikmah Exchange, further solidifying its reputation as the trusted solution for fire safety in commercial and healthcare buildings.
