The journey begins in a pitch-black foyer, enveloping visitors in intrigue as their gaze is drawn to a striking red metal ribbon balustrade that elegantly snakes upward

The recent renovation of the two-storey telecom office in Saradise, Kuching, showcases a bold interplay of form, function, and futuristic design elements. The journey commences at the pitch-black foyer, where a striking red metal ribbon balustrade captures the attention, guiding visitors to the upper levels. This sculptural feature is more than just an aesthetic touch; it symbolises the seamless connectivity that is integral to the telecom industry.

The design of this level prioritizes privacy and focus, recognizing the need for confidentiality in executive functions so every aspect of the design is carefully considered to create a space that supports the executive team's need for a discreet and productive workspace

Level 1 is the hub for executive operations, accommodating the boardroom and management offices. Privacy and focus are paramount in this space, achieved through innovative design decisions. Strategically placed thin metal fins create an illusion of solidity when viewed from certain angles, while maintaining an open feel from others. The darker colour palette and the intentionally low ceiling height at the entrance subtly prompt occupants to maintain a quieter, more contemplative atmosphere, reinforcing the gravity of the discussions held there.

Thin metal fins, strategically positioned throughout the design, offer a dynamic visual effect by creating an illusion of solidity from specific angles while preserving an open feel from other perspectives

Upon ascending to Level 2, the atmosphere shifts to a more collaborative and open environment, designed for the general office space. Here, the design fosters interaction and creativity, which are essential for the dynamic nature of telecommunications work.

On Level 2, the atmosphere shifts to a more open layout with the use of bright colors, natural light, and adaptable furniture to enhance the sense of openness and adaptability, supporting a vibrant work culture where team members can easily connect and innovate

A key highlight of the renovation is the mezzanine that is suspended in mid-air to serve as a meeting room with a design inspired by the structural form of a telecom tower that symbolizes connectivity and strategic coordination

A standout feature of the renovation is the mezzanine, which houses the “war room”. Suspended in mid-air, this space draws inspiration from the structural form of a telecom tower, symbolising the strategic planning that takes place within. The staircase leading to this mezzanine is a marvel in its own right—seeming to hover above the ground, it conjures images of a spacecraft descending. Reminiscent of a Star Wars jet fighter with its hatch opening to reveal Darth Vader, this audacious design choice infuses the space with drama and innovation, mirroring the cutting-edge nature of the telecom industry.

The hovering staircase leading to the mezzanine evocative of a spacecraft descending, with its sleek, angular lines and dramatic presence; the illusion of it floating above the ground adds a dramatic touch of sophistication

The renovated telecom office in Saradise, Kuching, not only serves as a functional space for its employees but also stands as a testament to the forward-thinking and innovative spirit of the company.
